Katia Nemirovich-Danchenko comes from a famous dynasty of Russian writers, acting directors, dramatists and artists who have participated over several generations in the Art Renovation Movement in Russia. Her great-grandfather was Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, one of the leading figures of the theatrical culture of the twentieth century, an outstanding director, playwright, writer, teacher, critic and founder, along with Konstantin Stanislavsky, of the Moscow Art Theatre (now – the Moscow Art Academic Theatre A. Chekhov).
Curious about the different formations and the richness of the repertoire, she has been playing for two years with the band Serena Tango, exploring the Argentinian tango repertoire and its more modern compositions, including those by Astor Piazzola.
Her talent, as a chamber and ensemble performer was highly appreciated and she was invited to participate in master classes of artists such as Anne-Sophie Mutter, Maxim Vengerov, and the clarinetist Florent Héau.
She is requested as an accompanist in international competitions: Tchaikovsky (Moscow), Concours Tibor Varga (Sion – Switzerland), Concours Marguerite Long – Jacques Thibaud (Paris) etc. She participates in the production of « La Grande Russie » by the chœur Accentus.
Katia has also recorded for Radio-France, the Südwestrundfunk, the Mitteldeustscher Rundfunk, and for the Mozart-Gesellschaft, and one record with violinist Ingolf Turban dedicated to the complete work for piano and violin by Ottorino Respighi, for the Swiss label Claves. She has also recorded the Mendelssohn symphonies and openings in a transcription done by the composer for piano for four hands, violin and cello for the Leipzig Internationale Mendelssohn Stiftung.
In 2011, she was awarded a full scholarship by the Dr. Watanabe-Stipendium des Mendelssohn-Hauses and in 2012, recorded pieces from Mendelssohn and Schumann in Leipzig on a 1905 Steinway.
In 2015, she received an Orphée d’or award from the Académie du disque lyrique for the Tchaikovsky’s Secret record with counter-tenor Alexis Vassiliev for the Calliope label.
